Namaste, Dear Parents and Aspirants,

I welcome you to Sardar Patel Institute of Technology – S.P.I.T.

We are Maharashtra’s numero uno self-financed, autonomous institute and a proud constituent of “Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan” – an 88 year movement built on values, by Dr. K.M. Munshi.

Parents, the question today is not just about a 4-year degree. It’s about the next 40 years of your child’s career. Career is not a 100-meter sprint, it is a marathon.

The world is changing very fast. AI, cloud computing, semiconductors, energy storage, quantum computing, fintech, cybersecurity – these are not just buzzwords anymore. This is the new language of India.

A student graduating today will work for 50 years and change careers 3 to 4 times. What job roles will they have in their thirties and forties? Honestly, we don’t know. So, we asked ourselves: How do we prepare them?

At S.P.I.T., we prepare them for the WHY, and the HOW.

How do we do that? Three things:

First: Learn by Doing, Not Just by Listening.

We have moved beyond conventional classrooms. We have introduced four “Studio Mode” core courses. This means that in core subjects, students don’t just sit in lectures. They build, prototype, code, and present – just like in a design studio or a startup. Learning by doing.

Second: Industry-Ready Minors.

Along with technical depth, we give breadth. A student can do a Minor in Management from SPJIMR or a Minor in Banking Technologies with Barclays – learn fintech, risk, digital banking directly from industry leaders. Alternatively, one can do a Minor in Computer or AIML while majoring in Electronics and Telecommunication. There are several other minors to match every career path. We even offer a Minor in specializations such as Mathematics / Physics / Systems Engineering.

Plus: A Research Internship in 7th semester or an Industry Internship in 8th semester. Every year around 50 of our students do a research internship at IITs/BARC/TIFR, and the remaining pursue the industry internship. Students opting for the research internship continue their work in the eighth semester in the form of a project. So, by the time you graduate, you already have 1 year of real research experience at elite institutions.

Third: Values + Placements + Global Reach

Our students are in Google, Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Facebook, Uber, JPMC, Barclays, Nvidia and several other deep tech companies. They are in UCLA, San Diego, Columbia, ETH, Delft, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Stanford, Georgia Tech, CMU for MS programs. They are winning national hackathons/ entrepreneurship challenges arranged by IITs/IIITs/IIMs/BITs/AICTE, and many international technical competitions. They are doing it with empathy, with ethics, with the Bhavan culture.

S.P.I.T. offers a “PI” model of Education; one compulsory minor with a chosen major, humanities, foreign languages, four studio projects, two minor projects, one major project, an opportunity to learn courses of interest from NPTEL platform. 54% of the credits of the program are flexible leading to truly a choice-based credit system. The UG curriculum is unique and aims at holistic development of the learners.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT) is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program designed to equip students with a solid foundation in computer science principles, engineering methodologies, and practical applications. The program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving field of technology.

Students are exposed to a curriculum that covers core areas such as mathematics, programming, data structures, algorithms, computer networks, Computer Architecture and Organization , operating systems, etc, while also delving into advanced topics like artificial intelligence, neural network , soft computing, machine learning, data analytics, NLP, Image Processing, Signal Processing ,Computer Vision, Explainable AI, Human Machine Interaction, cloud computing, Blockchain, Quantum computing and cyber security. Through a combination of classroom learning, laboratory work, and real-world projects, the program ensures that students are not only proficient in technical skills but also adept at problem-solving and critical thinking.

SPIT's B.Tech CSE program is designed to meet industry standards, with regular updates to the curriculum to reflect the latest technological advancements. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers in diverse fields such as software development, Machine Learning, Data Visualization, Data science, User Experience Design, Data Analysis, network security, Cloud computing, Backend and Front end development and more, or to continue their education with advanced degrees.

Through high-quality academic programs enriched with today's National Education Policy(NEP-2020) that offer a unique blend of teaching, research, activity-based learning including Seva Satva, minors etc. that strengthens learner’s ability to solve problems, expand knowledge base, work independently, think critically, and find new ways to apply Science and Engineering concepts to benefit society.
